Climate change adaptation remains the highest priority for the IGAD region due to the scale of current and future vulnerabilities. Member States are doing their best to enhance the resilience of vulnerable sectors and populations. However, challenges, including limited technical and institutional capacities, top-down adaptation instead of Locally Led Adaptation (LLA), and poor coordination, among others, exist.
IGAD CAEP, in coordination with member states and partners, works to breach the region's climate adaptation knowledge and capacity gaps by capitalising on existing systems and processes from the regional level to the local community.
