Livelihoods Resilience

IGAD CAEP supports the advancement of climate-resilience livelihood systems in the IGAD region. We recognise that agriculture, livestock and fisheries systems which are the backbone of member countries, remain vulnerable to climate change-related shocks, including droughts, floods, storms, sea level rise, cyclones, and desert locust infestation. Failure to adopt climate-resilient approaches undermines efforts towards food and nutrition security.

What We Do

  • We work with member states to support the implementation of agriculture, livestock and fisheries sector policies, priority actions identified in the National Adaptation Plans (NAP) and Updated NDCs.
  • We support member state institutions with sector capacity development in relation to climate adaptation.
  • We support efforts towards achieving sustainable development goals, including :
  • Goal 1- No Poverty
  • Goal 2-Zero Hunger
  • Goal 3- Good Health and Well-being
  • Goal 4-Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 5- Climate action
