Environmental Governance, Advocacy and Communication
The IGAD region faces many environmental challenges, including land degradation, biodiversity loss, deforestation, pollution, and extreme vulnerability to climate change. Weak regulations, poor coordination, limited ecological consciousness and awareness and insufficient financial and technical resources compound this.
What We Do
- We work with member states to support the implementation of environmental policies, strategies and action plan to achieve national development aspirations and sustainable development goals.
- We work with member states and partners to develop technical and institutional capacities.
- We co-produce with partners user-friendly environmental products for dissemination and undertake environmental communication and advocacy training for relevant sectors, including local communities.
